Jen Samuel Recognized for Dedication to Animal Welfare and Being a Modern Day Difference Maker
PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J. – Nov. 21, 2016 – For her tireless dedication to advocating for elephant well-being and saving endangered species, Jen Samuel, a public relations and social media specialist at CMA Association Management (CMA), was honored as a “Modern Day Difference Maker.”
Samuel was recognized at the Women of the Revolution dinner at the Inn of the Hawke in Lambertville. The dinner recognized influential women from the time of the American Revolution, showcasing how they were able to make a difference in their time, and honored modern day women who are making a difference today and blazing the trail for the next generation.
In addition to her work with the International Card Manufacturers Association at CMA, a full-service, award-winning association management firm with strategic marketing and integrated communications, Samuel is the founder and president of Elephants DC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending ivory trade worldwide and advancing elephant well-being.
“Jen is very passionate about everything she does and she is truly making a difference for all of CMA’s clients as well as animals around the world,” said Jeffrey Barnhart, CMA CEO and president, whose company was recognized as the 2016 Outstanding Small Business of the Year by the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce for its nearly 30-year history of advancing associations to the next level with governance, growth strategies, branding, marketing and communications.
CMA encourages all employees to be involved with causes they are passionate about and the company participates in a diverse array of charitable causes, consistently seeking out new opportunities to give back.
In her role at CMA, Samuel works with clients to implement social media and public relations strategies to help grow their association and increase their visibility while advancing new business opportunities.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized,” Samuel said. “Children learn ‘E’ is for ‘elephant,’ not ‘extinction’ and if more people come together, we can continue to make a collective difference and give endangered species a voice before it’s too late. I hope my nieces and nephew have the opportunity to see elephants in the wild one day, not just in storybooks.”
Advocating for elephants and fellow endangered species, Samuel testified earlier this year in favor of New Jersey’s domestic ban on the importation of trophy animals from Africa and Asia and is now backing a prohibition on the use of elephants in traveling animal acts known as “Nosey’s Law.” She has also organized the International March for Elephants in Washington, DC for the past four years and a recent World Elephant Day celebration at Liberty State Park.
“Jen is a Modern Day Difference Maker for all she has done in bringing awareness to the ivory trade and elephant extinction,” said Marianne Romano, an event planner who created the three-part event series. “She worked closely with elected officials and played a big role in New Jersey becoming the first state in our country to put a complete ban on ivory and rhinoceros horn sales in 2014. Jen has rallied and organized numerous organizations and individuals into action via her extraordinary social media skills.”
Samuel joins four other women in the first class of Modern Day Difference Makers. The honorees were chosen by a committee that evaluated the work of each honoree, length of involvement and its impact on society.
