Agency Honored for Excellence in Leadership, Design and Media Relations

PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J.—Sept. 23, 2023—CMA today announced that it won five industry awards from NJ Ad Club and NJBIZ, including a “40 Under 40” honor for its fastest-rising leader.

The marketing, association management and event planning company won four awards at last week’s 56th NJ Ad Club Jersey Awards, the state’s premier awards celebrating creative excellence. CMA won first place in two categories: Public Relations Campaign and Digital Media: Holiday Card.

Kelsey Tweedly, CMA’s Vice President of Business Integration, was also honored this month as one of NJBIZ’s “40 Under 40″. The awards program honors those under 40 who’ve been making headlines in their field and who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence and the community.

“We continuously push, then shatter the boundaries of creativity and technology to share brand stories the world has yet to hear,” said Christian Amato, President at CMA. “Our in-house team of designers, writers and storytellers don’t just build brand recognition—they ignite it, driving sales and fueling growth for businesses and associations ready to rise above the competition. It’s all about believing we can do something bigger, better and bolder for our clients. These awards show we do just that.”

CMA’s work and leadership continue to break new ground, delivering impactful results across various industries. Consider the following award-winning examples from the past year:

NJBIZ “40 Under 40” Honoree: Kelsey Tweedly

Tweedly’s ascent to executive leadership at CMA in just eight years showcases both her determination and the company’s culture of development.

“Through great mentorship and support, I capitalized on the opportunity to carve my own career path within CMA, working hard and getting involved in anything and everything I could, driven by a dedication to getting to where I am now within the company,” Tweedly says.

As VP of Business Integration, Tweedly was key in leading CMA’s recent rebranding, which captured the creative and collaborative spirit central to the company’s core identity. Tweedly has also been a pivotal force behind strong client growth, cultivating an invigorating culture, and leading forward-thinking initiatives to shape the future success of the organization. With her visionary leadership and innovative strategies, CMA will continue to deliver the kind of impactful results that have long set it apart from the competition, like those recognized by NJ Ad Club below.

First Place, NJ Ad Club, Public Relations Campaign

Stamford, Conn.-based Pastore law firm specializes in various legal services—none more than cryptocurrency. Yet hardly anyone knew. To change this, CMA launched a strategic public relations campaign to position Pastore’s legal team as experts in digital currency law. The campaign involved targeted media outreach and the creation of a customized editorial database to connect with financial and business reporters. The result was one-on-one interviews with several top-tier financial news outlets, including MarketWatch, MSN and Slate Magazine. The campaign reached an estimated 196.4 million readers, boosting Pastore’s visibility and reputation in a high-growth market.

First Place, NJ Ad Club, Digital Media: Holiday Card (Print & Digital)

For over 30 years, CMA has delivered holiday cards to clients and friends, showcasing themes such as Christmas sleighs, festive recipes, and New Year’s confetti and champagne. Last year, the agency elevated its holiday greeting with a Polar Express-inspired digital card, brought to life through a QR code on a festive teaser postcard. Upon scanning, readers entered an immersive winter wonderland where CMA’s services were revealed through snowy paths and glowing lights. The crew recorded and integrated videos directly into the animated landing page, creating a seamless experience as visitors explored the landscape and discovered content.

Second Place, NJ Ad Club, Collateral: Pocket Folder

When you purchase an all-electric construction machine from East Windsor, N.J.-based HEVI, there’s a lot you want to know—specs, costs, maintenance, charging times, environmental benefits and power capabilities. All this information is conveniently housed in their branded pocket folder—which didn’t quite capture the energy and excitement behind their equipment. Through its partnership with CMA, HEVI revamped the folder with bold branded colors, a fresh design and an electrifying new touch: a lightning bolt-shaped pocket that nods to their iconic brand symbol for maximum impact.

Award of Excellence, NJ Ad Club, Public Relations: Media Relations, Consumer or Trade

Regional and community banks were reportedly pulling back on lending and M&A activity due to record inflation and rising interest rates. But First Bank in Hamilton, N.J., saw it differently. CMA launched a media relations campaign targeting financial and business outlets to help First Bank counter this misconception. The campaign positioned First Bank CEO Patrick Ryan as an expert on banking strategies during economic uncertainty, highlighting the bank’s successful merger with another bank. Through targeted media outreach and strategic use of financial periodicals, CMA secured 67 media placements for the fast-growing community banking, reaching a potential audience of 24.73 million, with notable coverage in American Banker and the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Award-Winning Excellence Across Industries

Since 1987, CMA has won more than 410 awards for client work in marketing, associations and communications in various industries, including manufacturing, associations, event planning and other professional and financial sectors. It has won seven in 2024, including two national marketing honors from Association TRENDS, a leading association industry publication.
